“What I’ve Been Missing” is the defining LP of Blackway’s career, a perfect synthesis of both his Ghanaian roots and Brooklyn upbringing and “Sika Mami”, our focus track, is the exemplar. Known for his intelligent take on hip-hop, Blackway showcases his melodic sensibility through an Afrobeats lens on his new LP. It also carries amazing hip-hop moments, but in a broader sense it marries his influences perfectly. Collaborators include Nasty C, Feyi, and his longtime co-conspirator KoKo.
This is Blackway’s most personal record to date, fusing his connection to Ghana and Afrobeats and his background in US hip-hop. Blackway’s world is always growing and already spans a lauded Spiderman trailer to getting Shaq to rap again to this latest effort with Afrobeats stalwart Nasty C
