Single Review: LeTreez shares ‘Lifestyle,’ making him the French-language rap artist you didn’t know you needed in your life

By  |

The 27-year-old French Caribbean artist is perfecting the art of spitting pristine French-language verses over bass-heavy beats.

As he looks ahead to a busy few months – where he plans on going “all gas, no brakes” on his original music – 27-year-old producer Louis Lépine (aka LeTreez) has just released an exciting new single for fans to enjoy.

For those who haven’t heard him yet, Lépine hails from France but was raised in St. Maarten in the Caribbean. Having developed a passion for music from a young age, he began writing and recording his songs at 12.

Growing up in a culturally diverse environment influenced his musical style. French is his first language, but he was just as comfortable expressing himself in English – and he was influenced by the lyrical mastery of primary English language rappers like Lil Wayne, Eminem, Vybz Kartel, and 50 Cent.

At 18, Louis started taking music seriously. This led him to produce – where he has done some of his most important and memorable work. Highlights in his still-young career have included: signing a distribution deal with Pollen Records in Montreal and achieving syncing partnerships for placements on major TV shows on platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Showtime, Hulu, and HBO.

Now, while he continues producing for other artists, Louis is focused on growing his career and sharing his original songs with the world.

‘Lifestyle’ offers an intimate glimpse into LeTreez’s life and backstory. The song is about defiance, a beautiful, bouncing track, even as the lyrics hint at the trials and tribulations associated with the ‘lifestyle’ LeTreez has chosen for himself.

Regarding how the song came about, LeTreez said: “I incorporate freestyling in my songwriting and recording process because it allows me to quickly push out many ideas and then choose and build a foundation from there.”

He’s not only building a foundation for his songs – he’s also laying the groundwork for significant success in the future…
