Meet Haitian American Film Producer Luc Stephen
Born in Haiti he came to the US at the age of 2, where he was raised in a single parent household along with 3 of his 5 sisters. 1rst living in Boston, then moving to New York, where he attended Andrew Jackson HS. Where he played basketball and was a B student. Moving to a fast paced NYC In 1979 Luc dropped out in the 10th grade. He was drawn to the gritty streets of the impoverished section of Queens known as South Jamaica, better known as “South Side.” Luc led a checkered past during his adolescence and early 20s, landing in and out of jail. After a federal prison term, he vowed to himself to do something different. He played himself, then the following year, became a consultant on BET’s “AMERICAN GANGSTER” in 2007 and 2008. Fast forward 9 years later 2016 he dove head first and produced his first feature film “PREY BEFORE YOU EAT” creating part 2 and then a 3rd one “DIVIDED WE FALL” to the series. All under his own production company SECOND CHANCE ENTERPRISES.
Soon after the Movies series, he Directed and Produced the 10 episode series “SISTER’S KEEPER” for URBAN SPOTLITE, then produced a feature film “BETTER THAN MY LAST” starring HASSAN JOHNSON for a production by BLAK REPUBLIK and LOCK CITY. He was the Production Manager for 2 episodes of “URBAN EATS AND TREATS”, Produced by KEVIN HART’S LOL NETWORK
The anticipation though, is for a project, that he’s been working on along side Director ABENI NAZEER. The feature film SIN, the phycological thriller Produced by WYNN PUBLISHING. Starring ANGEL LOVE, BELLA BLAQ, the academy award-winning actor LOUIS GOSSETT JR, SEAN NELSON, and MARKUANN SMITH, with guest appearances from RIP MICHAELS, KIYANNE, JHONNI BLAZE, and SHIGGY . The Movie SIN follows a substance-dependent single mother who is in a toxic relationship and must end it before it kills her. “The subject of the film is strongly pointing to a problem with in our community that needs to be addressed … Mental Health, something that is often ignored in the urban communities” Luc states. “This movie I promise you will have a huge impact on the urban culture”
To date he’s work on over 24 film projects in some form or fashion. The fact that he’s been able to put his checkered past behind him is a success story in itself. Luc has gotten distribution deals with HOMESTEAD ENT, DAME DASH STUDIOS, INDIE RIGHTS MOVIES.
The future looks bright for this Film Producer and we suggest you keep an eye on him. Luc says “Haitians are very driven people. You can look at the history of my country we’ve always overcome adversity. We are the only country that has overcome oppression . Its my destiny to do the same.
