Trust’N & Bkwds Go To #Neverland (EP)

By  |

Following 2019’s Lapse, Wisconsin wordsmiths Trust’N & Bkwds unload their latest body of work Neverland. Combining different elements of Hip-Hop, Pop, and R&B, the artists showcase their versatility from beginning to end. Youthful, down to earth lyrics, catchy choruses, strong songwriting, and solid sonics make this project an easy listen. The dynamic duo’s voices have always seemed to blend together eloquently and it’s more than apparent on this new release. [Artwork Credit: Brandon Barnett]

Co-written and produced by the partners in rhyme, additional instrumentation comes compliments of Milian Beats, Era Lake, and NextLane Beats. The 5-track EP touches the topics of humble beginnings, heartbreak, and the lavish lifestyle their hard work has afforded them.

In a statement to the press, the pair states the significance of the release:

“Neverland is important because it brings a unique, self crafted sound while still delivering musical elements as well as songwriting that meet the industry standard. After working on the project for two years, we are finally ready to share our art with the world. The EP is full of both happy and sad moments, capturing some of the emotions we felt during the pandemic. Coming from where we are from we never get the proper respect for what we’re doing because it’s never been a place for Hip-Hop artists to thrive.”

Trust’N & Bkwds first began making music together back in 2018. Hailing from Wisconsin’s capital city of Madison, the duo has always bet against the odds coming from an industry-less midwest city. Madison has had a rough past with promoting hip-hop events, generally frowning upon organized Hip-Hop performances in the city. That never stopped them from chasing their dream and working every day to make it a reality. They eventually released their iTunes charting EP Lapse in 2019. The 6 song EP won over local fans and earned them spotlight in major media. The project was recorded in Bkwds closet during the pair’s teenage years. The special relationship between the two artists is still going strong almost 5 years later.
