Meet Ki BandZ – A Rising Star Out Of New York
We recently had a chance to have a 1 on 1 with Ki BandZ coming out of the great state of New York. Most recently Ki has been putting out fire visual after visual for his singles and has been gaining momentum for about a year now.
Why the name Ki BandZ?
My Name Really started thru my pops, Everybody in the streets knew him as “Cash” and I slowly became “Lil Cash”. When I got older I decided to make a name for my self mixing part of my first name and keeping the money concept with “BandZ”
How long have you been making music? How did you start?
I’ve Been Making Music for about four years. I really started making music cause a few of my friends had their own rap group going on and I always wanted to rap but I never took it seriously till then.
Where are you from?
I’m From Brooklyn New York, Bedford Stuyvesant to be exact
How would you describe your sound and who are some of your influences?
I would describe my sound as lyrical/raw. Some of my influences coming up were Kanye, Meek Mill, Jadakiss and Jay-Z
What do you make of the New York music scene today?
I love it, I mean New York is still producing some of the best music in the industry right now. Plus NY Drill has come upon us like never before putting New York music on a higher pedestal.
From a production standpoint, what do you think New York artists can do to harness the current explosion of drill rap globally?
I feel artists should continue to give the people what they want, and network with other artists out of state to keep the Ny Drill sound going.
What would you say is your unique contribution to New York’s music landscape currently?
I Feel with drill taking up such a big role in Ny Music, I keep the “real rap” and Lyrical sound of the past around.
How would you describe your experiences as an independent artist?
I love it and I love everything that comes with it, but being an independent artist it’s not for the weak. It definitely builds stress and takes long days and sleepless nights.
What can fans expect from your forthcoming projects and what is your vision for it?
My Fans can expect a bunch of singles, features with other upcoming artists, and 1 or 2 mixtapes. My vision for my projects usually go off of what’s going on in the world or in my life at the moment.
Aside from the music, what are your plans for 2022?
My plans are to make as much money as I can, stay healthy, make sure my family is straight and enjoy life.
Are there any producers you would like to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with 808 mafia, Kanye west, Wheezy, Metro boomin, Dj Mustard, and Dj Khalid
How has the pandemic affected your work?
I haven’t really been affected by the pandemic. I just made the best of the situation using whatever I could to continue to get my music out
