Get the Strap

What first got you into music?

My dad was the first person to put me onto alot of great artists like Tupac, Michael Jackson, Biggie, Sade, Busta Rhymes, Modern Talking, pet shop boys and the list goes on…

•Who inspired you to make music?

I was chilling with my homeboy Mu$tard and we were on some freestyling vibe a couple nights and eventually I decided to write my first song and go record it. Some liked it some didn’t haha, I was just getting my feet wet.

•How would you describe the music that you typically create?

The music I typically create is melodic, chill, with a mix of vibes and lyrical. I rap alot about my life and things I see for myself to come. I’m working on being more versatile with my songs. I gotta have music for all kind of vibes…

•    What is your creative process like?

When I first hear a beat I have to vibe with it first before I even think to write anything. I play it over and over again until I get a string of flows and lyrics and piece it all together. I usually start with the hook first as my starting point of what im going to write about. All about feeling the music.

  •    Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Lil baby for real, he always be stepping on all his tracks. I first heard of him back when Southside came out and I knew he was headed for the top. I rock with baby’s vibe and flow and know for a fact he would destroy the beat if we made a song. He definitely paving a way for the next generation to come up.

•If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Lil uzi vert for sure! his shows be turnt up MAX, always going crazy! Shake the room type shows. I rock with his vibe and melodic flow. I remember when I heard money longer for the first time, I immediately rocked with bro just off of that song alone haha.

•What is the most useless talent you have?

Honestly, probably either inverting my eyelids, staring without blinking (not sure if squinting counts) or twisting my tongue, but let’s not go there. Surely I have more to discover. But to answer the question I’d say inverted eyelid.

•What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

I am a fully licensed red seal steamfitter. I just recently I got my ticket back in april and went out to work in sarnia, ontario for 2 months at a shutdown. Working on building projects, traveling, investing etc is what I do outside of music and will continue to do especially with music.

•Do you have any upcoming shows?

Got in-touch with a toronto based videographer and they just held their first showcase in May of 2022 so their 2nd showcase is in August and they are looking to put me into their lineup so I’m excited for that. Looking forward to future shows and growing as an artist to say the least.

•How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

It has allowed independent artists like myself to market and distribute our music on various platforms and do similar actions that record labels can perform. And now with all these social media platforms it grants us the ability to reach millions of people without having to sign a deal. The technology surrounding the music industry is just getting more and more diverse each day.

•Which famous musicians do you admire?

Drake, lil baby, Tupac, Michael Jackson,  that’s just a few. There are ton of artists who I look to for inspiration

•What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Best advice I’ve been told is stop caring what other people think and chase what ever it is that you desire. Life is too short to care about someone’s opinion.

•What’s next for you?

I’m dropping single after single at the moment and I plan on dropping my first project soon after my 4th single “Need You” drops july 22. I plan on doing some showcases in my city, promoting song after song online and getting booked for some shows and getting better at my craft. I’ve had my eyes on those tiktok/reels videos and know those are the way to getting a song pushed and gaining mass exposure. I’m excited for what’s to come!
