Demetri Is A Fresh Talent From Michigan

By  |

Demetri is a talented independent artist currently based out of Ypsilanti, Michigan. He got his start in music at a young age as he had musical bases in both his mother’s and father’s families. His mother, grandmothers, and uncles were all singers and taught him how to sing at a very young age. His father was a well-known MC in Detroit and was part of a rap group in Detroit that became well known locally. These roots helped him find his voice in music. He started making music in his church choir as a young child but didn’t start to take it seriously until he could no longer pursue his football career. He started recording himself in 2019 in college and has not stopped since. Demetri has many musical inspirations, many of which are gospel, such as Fred Hammond, The Winans, J Moss, and Deitrick Haddon. As for R&B inspirations, he was a fan of the old school artists such as 112, KC and Jojo, Donnel Jones, Tyrese, and Tank.

Demetri strives to make music that his fans can relate to. He wants people to see an artist relatable to everyday life situations and obstacles outside of just love. He has experienced many life situations, such as homelessness, poverty, and helping raise his nine younger siblings. All this trouble has also been a triumph. His greatest accomplishment as an artist has been being able to write and engineer his music, and this personal touch is what draws his fans in. Demetri has a new single called “Ride,” which deals with the ups and downs of a relationship and navigating if someone is going to ride with you through thick and thin.
