Singer-Songwriter DeAna Fai: Pursuing the Dream & Giving Back
DeAna Fai is one of the most exciting artists to premiere on the American music scene in recent years. Hailing from Virginia, this singer-songwriter uncovered an early passion for music and entertainment while attending church with her siblings and her beloved aunt, Rene. Both DeAna and her sister rapidly fell in love with everything related to music, and began pouring their hearts into every melody, which did not go unnoticed by their aunt, who encouraged them along this journey. Eventually, the duo started performing at church events and other local functions, and came to be known as the Faison Sisters. Though her sister’s interest in the music world eventually waned, DeAna Fai never lost her passion for singing.
“Music is my unborn child. I nourish my craft and I protect my dream.”
While pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree, the insanely talented soon-to-be celebrity started collaborating with people in the field. DeAna Fai started catching the eye of numerous music producers and artists of great renown, such as the late Heavy D, with whom DeAna Fai collaborated.
DeAna Fai always had an innovative and unique approach to making music. Rather than waiting for a beat and a producer, the young, immensely talented artist started recording her own songs. “I’ll look for a producer later,” DeAna Fai thought, and got to work, which eventually paid off, and made her a big favorite for music producers to work with.
In 2020, DeAna Fai was selected to participate in comedian Loni Love’s “Loni Love’s Quarantine Talent Show”. Here, her remarkable rendition of Beyonce’s “Listen” captured the hearts of the general public, and skyrocketed DeAna Fai into stardom.
It was also during the pandemic that DeAna Fai launched her very own quarantine podcast, entitled “DeAna Fai presents Kings and Queens of Entertainment”, which proved to be another rapid hit. The massively popular show featured big names in the entertainment industry, such as DJ Wayne Williams, DJ Babey Drew, Shanti Lowry, Courtney Nichole, Sharaya J, Makeba Woods, Larry Sims, Angela White, Stevie Edwards, and numerous others.
However, for DeAna Fai, celebrity and success were a side-quest. With her church background, the young artist was determined to use her success in order to give back to the community, and help the world. Following the success of this initial show, DeAna Fai created a rather successful spin-off, “DeAna Fai presents Kings and Queens of Entertainment Reunion Recap and Giveback”. Her show teamed up with various important charities for the first season, like the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Stroke Association, with many celebrities coming on the show to raise awareness for these causes. The celebrities that participated were Angelique Bates, Erika Ringor, Candace Wakefield, Carrie Bernans, Brandon Broady, Tehran Von Ghasri, Rob Gordon, Melvin Jackson Jr., Rayshun LaMarr, Hannon Lane, DJ Pryor, TT The Artist, Stevie Boi, Jackie’s Boy, Tyrell Crawford, Sprague, Erica Hubbard, Rodney Perry, Rebecca King Crews, Lady Luck, Tony Dofat, D-Teck, Rosemary Rodriguez, Kenneth Okolie, Kenya Brown, Claudia Jordan, and Dunlap Exclusive.
Outside of her podcasts, DeAna Fai has also been featured with her music on films like “Perfectly Single”, “Puzzled”, “My Favorite Five”, and “Hey, Mr. Postman!”, as well as appearing in the world-famous television show “Empire”.
In spite of her success, DeAna Fai is a remarkably down-to-earth and humble musician, who admits she is still learning, and is eager to see where her musical journey will take her next. Currently, she is aiming at a red carpet premiere for her show, while also focusing on her next big musical release.
