First Look At “Surface” Starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Apple TV+ has released its first look at the straight-to-series order  Surface, a psychological thriller by Veronica West and starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The series follows Mbatha-Raw’s character of Sophie after a traumatic head injury has left her with extreme memory loss. The story is set in San Francisco, Sophie embarks on a quest to put the pieces of her life back together with the help of her loved ones. Things begin to turn sour when she begins to question whether or not the truth is really her own or the assumptions of others. Through these twists and turns and an unexpected love triangle, “Surface” is a story of self-discovery and a philosophical exploration of free will. Veronica West will serve as executive producer alongside Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter. In addition to the lead role, Mbatha-Raw will also be as co-executive producer.

“Surface” marks the latest collaboration between Apple and Hello Sunshine. Their partnership has previously produced “The Morning Show”, the crime drama “Truth Be Told,” and upcoming music competition series “My Kind of Country.”
