Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson Created A Podcast From A Timberland Box

By  |

What happens when you literally go from hosting a top rated show at a major network like CBS to creating a podcast from old tapes that were sitting in a Timberland box at your mom’s house just collecting dust?

Well if you’re NBA insider Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, you take those tapes and create the Scoop B Radio Podcast which garners 15 million streams annually!

Currently a national NBA television analyst, writer, host and executive producer at Bally Sports Network, Scoop B began his career at 12 years old hosting Nets Slammin’ Planet on the now defunct 1660 AM AAHS World Radio in New York City.

While a TV and radio host at CBS, Robinson and his business partner DJ Manny El decided to digitize those tapes that were sitting in the Timberland Box and create the Scoop B Radio Podcast.

“Funny part is that it actually wasn’t a podcast,” Scoop B tells ThisIs50 in a phone interview.

“It was a time capsule highlighting past work.”

While Mark Cuban, Shaquille O’Neal, DJ Khaled, Pete Sampras, Charles Barkley and the voice of Siri have appeared on the Scoop B Radio Podcast, DJ Manny El and Scoop B took cassette tapes of his childhood interviews with 90s stars like Dikembe Mutombo and Chicago Bulls champion BJ Armstrong and placed them into digital format interviews.

From there, Scoop B Radio began to get big numbers and sponsors began calling. The Gametime app, Wooter Apparel, a bed company called Sleep Ovation and a moving company called Green Line Moving contacted Scoop B Radio and the duo of DJ Manny El began recording commercials and the brand of Scoop B Radio continued to grow while the personal brand of Scoop B flourished also.

Amassing over 150,000 followers on Instagram, Scoop B has done everything from walking the runway during New York Fashion Week, breaking NBA news about the Brooklyn Nets’ Kyrie Irving, Los Angeles Lakers champion Anthony Davis and Chicago Bulls All Star Zach LaVine and also garnering strong brand partnerships with Google, Nike, PETA, Adidas, Mitchell & Ness, New Era Caps, Bevel, Zenni Optical, Starter, Nutella and Epson.

Robinson also hosts a weekly show at Spotify every Thursday at 4 PM ET and he also hosts specialty content through Bovada Sports Betting with the likes of NBA Champions Kendrick Perkins and Vernon Maxwell, Super Bowl champion Bryant McFadden, retired porn star  Lisa Ann and writer/personality Gary Sheffield Jr.
