15-Year-Old Shot Dead Trying to Buy a Cellphone

A 15-year-old boy is dead after trying to buy a cellphone. Authorities in Long Beach, California, are investigating the killing of Joshua Simmons. They say he was shot at a neighborhood basketball court while attempting to purchase a cellphone from someone he connected with on an online marketplace. Long Beach Police say the suspect turned himself in shortly after the shooting. Joshua Simmons died three weeks before his 16th birthday.
