Mike Crook Is Becoming One Of The Industry’s Go-To For Billboard Hits

By  |

Mike Crook is on fire to start 2022. The LA-based producer has dropped three heaters to start the year. On the 10th of February, he landed a placement with Saweetie & H.E.R. on their new song “Closer.” His production can also be heard on Rubi Rose‘s track “I Like” and Doja Cat & Tyga’s “Freaky Deaky.” Each record has millions of views on Youtube and is sure to stay in rotation for the duration of the summer. Although some of these records have been done for a little over a year, they are all dropping before the weather breaks. Now, he’s adding another high-profile placement to the roster — being responsible for production on Coi Leray and Nicki Minaj’s new track, “Blick Blick.”

I got better at my craft within the last year, and I feel more comfortable than ever going into the studio with artists, which was something I struggled with my first two years in the game,” Mike Crook says. “So I think maybe if these songs dropped when I wanted them to, I mentally wasn’t ready to be in a bunch of rooms, now I feel I’m ready. I learned about the power of flow, I’m learning not to force things, and everything will eventually work out how it’s supposed to.

Mike Crook has been putting in the work for years. The life of a producer can be challenging, but he always finds a way to push through. It is challenging to get into rooms with the artists in today’s musical landscape. Before COVID, many creatives do not let outside producers into their sessions. The email game can get tiring, and many producers lose hope of connecting with their favorite artists. Crook didn’t become a platinum producer by giving up. He had to put the work in and stay patient.

I appreciate Supakaine who wrote on “Best Friend” by Doja Cat and Saweetie and also “Big Energy” by Latto, for still coming to my house to work with me during a time I had two placements out. I appreciate Ryan OG and Lourdiz so much as well; they were a part of “Closer” and “Freaky Deaky” as well. They never gave up on me, and I was with them almost every week. That means the most to me, is the ones that were there when others weren’t trying to work. They are forever in my favor“.

Although Mike Crook is becoming one of the most sought-after producers in L.A., he is nowhere near done. He is looking to work with Drake, Nicki Minaj, Roddy Ricch, and many more. His production is a perfect blend of West Coast bounce and Pop/R&B melodies. After years of practicing, he has perfected his radio-friendly sound. Crook’s range is limitless. He can provide artists with fun trap beats or early 2000’s vibes. 2022 is shaping up to be one of his best years yet.
