Iman Shumpert Slam Dunks The Mirror Ball
Season 30 came down to a head to head with Iman Shumpert on one end and Jojo Siwa on the other. The competition was a must see as barriers were broken with Jojo as the first contestant to have a same sex partner. After 10 weeks of intense routines and endless hours of practicing, Tyra Banks stepped to the center of the floor to announce that Iman Shumpert was the winner! As the husband of one of the most talented choreographers of this decade, Teyana Taylor, some argued that he was destined to win. But others recognize that Iman was in fact the underdog. Jojo has an enormous following named the Siwanatorz. She has amassed over 11 million on instagram and over 12 million subscribers on YouTube, while Iman only has 2.3 million on instagram. Not be outdone, Iman hinted a nod at his old teammate King James enough to sway his fans allegiance which helped him to come out on top!
At the finale, Iman and his partner Danielle delivered such an amassing freestyle performance to Missy Elliot’s Lose Control/Bounce that guest judge Julianna Hough proclaimed that it was her favorite of all the seasons combined. The sentiment was felt throughout the other judges and landed Iman a perfect score. With no dance experience, Iman fought his way to the top. He is the first Ex-NBA player to secure the win. Iman joins Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward and Laurie Hernandez as Mirror Ball Champions.
