Interview With Niño Brown About New Project Terrible Tingz
1. Where are you from?
“Atlanta, Ga but live in Athens about 2 hours give or take from Atlanta.”
2. What do you like about living in Athens?
“The music scene in Athens is front and center. There are a lot of legendary musicians walking the streets on any given day. living in Athens definitely shaped me as a songwriter and performer. The competition is stiff so I was forced to grow as an artist all around.”
3. Tell me about your latest project?
“My latest project is an e.p. called “Terrible Tingz” dropped on October 28th. I had a bunch of extra songs that had several features with some very talented rappers but I didn’t know what to do with them. I picked out a few of the more hardcore songs and decided to pitch it as a sort of Halloween party pack. Given the debaucherous nature of the holiday I figured if the world can walk around in their underwear for the day then I shouldn’t suffer too much backlash. It’s also a bit of a middle finger to the sociopolitical climate sweeping the entertainment industry today.”
4. What makes you different from other rappers?
“I approach every song as a songwriter. I focus on the structure of the song and try to switch flows as much as possible. For me each bar is a vehicle to get me to the next point in the song. So I don’t get too concerned with always trying to outdo every bar that came before. Kind of controversial for a rapper to say.”
5. East coast or West coast?
“Neither!! Dirty South!!”
6.What’s next for you?
“My next single and video for “The Internet” is dropping in a couple of weeks. It’s the second single off of my upcoming album due out early next year.”
7. What inspires your writing style?
“I just write about my experiences. I listen to the music and let it guide me. Pretty simple.”
8. Who are your top 5 rappers?
“Tupac, Biggie, Hov, Em, Wayne.”
9. What are you currently listening to?
“I always rock Michael Jackson’s Thriller around Halloween!”
10. What’s the next concert you plan on attending?
“My own on November 5th for IndieFest at Nucci’s Space in Athens, GA.”
