Terry Blade – “American Descendant of Slavery, The Album”

Terry Blade is truly a unique and one of a kind artist who paints pictures with his words and use of electrifying and captivating instrumentals to keep the audience engaged. The multi-talented artist uses music as his platform to inspire and uplift the world through messages of hope and unity, while reflecting on the hardships and difficulties he has experienced, in an ever evolving society. 

Terry Blade blesses us with his new phenomenal and highly anticipated project titled “American Descendant of Slavery, The Album”. His new album focuses on the intersectionality of Terry Blade’s social and cultural identity as a gay black American descendant of slaves. The project incorporates original music with historic audio recordings of former African-American slaves (and their descendants) publicly available and provided by the American Folklife Center at the U.S. Library of Congress.

Terry Blade was born and raised in Washington, DC and currently lives in Chicago, IL. He is an award-winning LGBTQ-identifying singer-songwriter, known for using his unique sultry baritone to explore an artistic sound that fuses soul and r&b with heavy folk influences. His musical style has drawn comparisons to artists such as Deltron 3030, Open Mike Eagle, Sam Smith, and Meshell Ndegeocello.
