Dandrell Scott: Jack of All Trades

By  |

We’ve all heard the analogy, “Jack of all trades, master of none.” However, that statement doesn’t ring true for new hip hop artist, Dandrell Scott. He’s on a mission to show his talents as a rapper, actor, and much more.

Born in Chicago, but raised in the hard hit suburb of Harvey, Illinois, Dandrell learned to adapt to his surroundings. Amidst the violence and gang related neighborhoods, he always had a desire to become an entertainer. He, eventually, booked gigs on popular television shows such as, “The Chi” and “Chicago PD.” Although credited as an actor, Dandrell is better known for his abilities as a VO announcer for brands like Wendy’s and Ford Motor Company. His time in the voiceover studio was well-spent, as he learned different tonal and inflection skills related to the voice.

Dandrell’s music introduction started with comedy rap, which he expressed as “different and fun.” Unfortunately, those songs never materialized, or gained attention in the hip hop sphere. It would take years, a new vocal approach, and a feature from platinum artist, Twista, to change things. “Faded 2nite,” is Scott’s most successful record to date, with hundreds of thousands of YouTube views. As 2021 continues, Dandrell’s music career looks to take off. He’s set to debut his first traditional album, with features from Bun B, Sasha Go Hard, and more.
