Trillest Entertainment Presents Exclusive Interview: Rising Artist Big 10

By  |

What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Big 10 from Snellville, GA.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

My latest release is my very first EP titled “1ntr0”. It’s a compilation of music that I’ve been working on over the past couple months. I’ve been rapping for about four months now, and four of the songs were some of my very first songs I made. The track “Bounce Back” is one of my more recent songs but I added it to the EP because I felt like it spoke to the theme of the EP. I called the EP “1ntr0” because it is my introduction into the rap scene, being my first project, and it’s introducing my fans to my life and who I am.

What is unique about you and your music?

I’m different from other artists because I feel like I have an ability to sound like a different version of myself on every track. I want to give my fans a different experience on every song so I spend a lot of time finding ways to switch my flow up and show different sides of myself in my music.

What shaped your music?

My sound comes from a lot of different elements. Atlanta is extremely successful in the rap game and living there my whole life definitely caused that sound to rub off on me. Also, because I go to school in North Carolina, you’ll see that some of their sound has rubbed off on me too. So I would say my music is shaped by that Atlanta sound with some North Carolina mixed in.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

When I first started rapping a couple months ago I was doing it because it was fun, and then I started taking it a little more seriously and making videos.  When I dropped the video to “No Thot” I got motivated to really be serious with my rap because I saw the response from the fans and I realized I can really go far with this.

What type of music do you listen to?

Most of the music I listen to is focused on many different Atlanta artists. I like a lot of the artists in Atlanta today like Lil baby, Gunna, Young thug, and Future. I like listening to them because they all sound different from each other and my sound is nothing like any of theirs, so it allows me to hear all types of flows and sounds and see how different things work for different people.

What inspires you to write music?

I make music for people to feel good. That’s why I like to keep a lot of variety in my music so I have music to offer to all types of people. If you listen you’ll see I have chill music, I have turn up music, I have music to hustle to, so whatever people are looking for I have something to offer and it will make them feel good.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

Football is the other half of my life. I’m a football player before I’m a rapper so that’s something that definitely still has my heart. I’m currently in my senior year of school playing football at North Carolina A&T.

Happiness to you is…

To me, happiness means that all my people are straight. I’m a simple man and all I really want is to know everybody that’s around me and been supporting me are taken care of. When I see the people I love happy that makes me happy.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

I wish somebody told me to ignore all the critics that don’t want to see you win. When the people around me give me criticism about my music I know it’s because they want me to win, but always remember, not everybody wants you to win. It’s always going to be haters when you doing more with your life or doing something other people always wanted to do. Just focus on your craft and keep working to get better and don’t let outside people stop you from doing what you want with your music.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

A new project I’m almost done working on titled “1ntr0 Reloaded” is coming out in January. It will be a 10 song EP made up of my newer music. I wanted to drop this EP to give my fans a further look into who I am and where I’m going.

Where do we find you music / music projects?

My music is available on all platforms: Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud, and any other music platform.

Any last words for the readers?

Big 10 is going to be the next big artist out of Atlanta, so keep an eye out for me. A lot of new shit coming soon, stay tuned I got some for everybody, and watch to see what happens next.
