Interview with rising songwriter Umut Gundogdu aka TheUmutmusic

What is your biggest achievement?

In the past year, I produced and released three music videos here in the U.S.! And it was a long road to get here, starting with concerts and tours with my old R&B and hip hop band with my brother in Turkey. Then a move to the Netherlands in 2011 where I built a successful business which allowed me to come to the US to keep building my music career

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My brother Ufuk a.k.a. Argo who was the first underground rapper with an album in our hometown, Eskisehir. I also grew up listening to Michael Jackson through my teenage years

Where do you see yourself in 1 year?

I want my music to reach millions of people

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Turkey, I love my country, but Idreamed of singing in English .It took many years and many struggles for me to get to produce my own music in English in New York.

Are you currently employed? are you working on any projects?

After I finished studying filmmaking at Digital Film Academy in New York, I worked on a few projects. Now I’m focused on my own music with my director/ filmmaker friend Colique Culture and we are creating new music and movie projects. I am working on 5 songs that are all connected to each other by story. We are gonna release them one at a time in the next few months with music videos. My next single Burn It Up will be on all digital platforms soon and you can watch the music video only on the Nse Music Youtube channel.

Who are your top 3 greatest artist of all time / dead or alive?

Michael Jackson, Timbaland, Tupac

What are you in this industry for?

I wanna be remembered for telling my life stories and I want to give motivation to anyone who is trying to change their life and things around them. My last release “Hope” came to me in the middle of all the strong emotions on race we are experiencing in 2020.

How long have you been making music?

15 years in 3 countries Turkey, Netherlands and The U.S.

What’s your next move?

My next move is to make my company Nse Music into a global music and entertainment company. I also want to build my own crew and create more music to win a Grammy.

Are you working with any artists in your local scene or internationally ?

I worked with some DJ’s, rappers and musicians for live performances in the past and my goal is to collaborate with global artists in the future.
