By  |

What is your name and what city do you rep?

Most people call me no sleep or city for short but its really nosleepcity & I’m from the westside of Chicago

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

I recently released a song called woes its out on a bunch of different platforms I was inspired to do that when I heard the beat it was a change of pace for me a more mellow sound than I usually have, before that I dropped my biggest record to date called sack craziest thing about that song is I did it in one take.

What is unique about you and your music?

What makes me and my music unique is I never followed the trend of what’s popular thats in life or music I do what I like and try and set my own trends not follow them.

What shaped your music?

Life is what pretty much shaped my music my experiences, trials and tribulations, losing friends and family to Chicago I try and put my experiences within my music I want people to feel me and sort of walk im my shoes.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

I realized I was going to take music seriously after I got shot I wouldn’t say immediately after but there was people in my ear telling me I needed to step back from the street and do music cuz I had always played around with it, I would say the turning point was when I met my leekeleek in 2012 he had produced alot of big records for artist like chief keef, lil durk, plies and others he more so made me take music seriously and helped me develop a sound we became like brothers and started a group years later called the “Mud Brothers”

What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to everything but mostly older stuff because I dont want to get caught in the wave of trying to sound like whats hot right now.

What inspires you to write music?

My life overall inspires me to write music, I lost my sister and best friend leek within months of each other that deterred me for a while but I knew they would want me to continue that inspired me the most right now

Happiness to you is…

Happiness to me is progress in life also seeing my family and sons straight making sure they have everything they need & want that makes me happy

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

I wish I was told that most of your support would come from strangers, I think artist get caught up in trying to please people around them who don’t even support them in all actuality most people around won’t support your dream until its reality and by then its too late

Tell us about your upcoming projects…

As of now im working on a mixtape & album both which will be released sometime this year the mixtape will be before the album and will most likely be released within a month, other than that I’ll be dropping a video every 1-2 weeks until it drops.

Where do we find you music / music projects?

You can find my music on all platforms youtube, amazon, spotify, itunes, iheartradio etc. search nosleepcity all one word and it’ll pop up

Any last words for the readers?

I just wanna say I appreciate all the support I receive on a daily basis it keeps me going from the people who tell me they love the music to the people who buy my shirts and support me that way its all love!
