Mir Fontane – “On Mommy” (Official Video)

Signed to EMPIRE by Ghazi himself Mir Fontane is more than just a rapper. He’s a multifaceted artist who majored in visual arts and used drawing as a form of creative expression, eventually switching from drawing to writing rhymes to spread a message of hope, while also shining a light on the reality of the inner city.

Influenced by narrators like The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Big L, Nas, 50 Cent, and more, Mir Fontane, a moniker derived from the Godfather’s Johnny Fontane character, wants to be known for his cinematic approach to hip-hop. His critically acclaimed mixtape He So Crazy, which released in 2014 and garnered Mir’s first buzz was concept project based on the popular 1990s sitcom Martin, showcasing his affinity for narrative nuances, comedic tone and use of melodious vibes. He followed up in 2016 with the mixtape Who’s Watching the Kids, which featured the standout track “Down by the River” that garnered nearly 2 million spins on SoundCloud.

Most recently, Mir released the highly anticipated Who’s Watching The Kid’s 2 , flexing his duality as a rapper and artist, the world of hip-hop and art collide on the 11 track project, which tells compelling street stories, alongside melodic, yet gritty forward-thinking compositions. WWTK2 arrives alongside the video for lead single “On Mommy”. The visuals were inspired by the Netflix! show “A Haunting in Hill House”.
