Vibe Magazine...You're FINISHED!! D.O.V - Death of VIBE (Big Thanks to the Editor-in-Chief Danyel Smith)
I've reported numerous times in the past that Vibe Magazine was on it's way out ( PROOF). It's unfortunate that a historical magazine like this was being run into the ground for the past 2 years by those who were in charge. For some of us in this music industry who are in a position to make big decisions, let this be a lesson learned. With the current climate of the music industry and the economic crisis we're facing, now is not the time for the leaders in this business field to use their personal judgements, biases, relationships and what you think is cool to affect your readership. For example just look at their list of the top 50 blog sites (PROOF) .This is why you have a staff...maybe next time you will listen to them...

According to the Daily Finance:
Vibe magazine, the urban-music magazine founded in 1993 by Quincy Jones, is the latest victim of the media recession. A source with knowledge of the situation tells DailyFinance that the staff has learned the magazine is ceasing publication, and assistants in the offices of editor in chief Danyel Smith and publisher Edgar Hernandez confirmed the news. No further information was immediately available. Messages left for Smith, Hernandez and Vibe Media CEO Steve Aaron were not immediately returned.
Vibe enjoyed significant success in the late '90s and early part of this decade as hip hop and R&B became the nation's predominant forms of pop music. But in recent years the title has fallen on hard times under its new owner, the Wicks Group, which bought it in 2006. In February, it reduced its circulation and publishing frequency, cut salaries and moved employees to a four-day workweek to save money.

Fuck Vibe. SO happy to see them gone. I'll never forget when Biggie got murked, VIBE, in following issue, had the AUDACITY to have on the cover "WHEN WILL IT END?" IF there ever was an East Coast- West Coast "beef," then VIBE more blood on their hands than ANY other Hip Hop magazine. IF there was an "East vs. West Coast" feud, VIBE, single-handedly added fuel to that fire; single-handedly cheered it on.
No one asked me, and they should have, but MY favorite Vibe "moment" in their last 15 years, was actually the 15-year Anniversary issue. Everyone patting Vibe on the back, and the Vibe staff congratulating themselves. But the BEST one, was from Danielle's homo-husband, Elliot Wilson. This suburban nerd PLAYED HIMSELF when he wrote about his marriage to Vibe EIC, Danielle (sic), ".....the best in Black-folk Hip Hop journalism...." You GOTTA love it. The incest goes in....Elliot's in bed with Paul Rosenburp: when it came to Eminem and 50 Cent, did anyone REALLY ever wonder if XXL was journalistically objective and free, when Elliot Wilson was the EIC?! Ay dios mio, ya GOTTA love it! ".....The best in Black-folk Hip Hop journalism..." Does anyone know if Elliot's from Canada? Because he sure acts like he is!
I heard that the now FORMER-EIC of Vibe, Danielle Smith-Wilson, will be getting Paul Rosenburp money (which is really Eminem's money- he's just letting Paul hold onto it) in the discrete form and under the guise of "funding" for her own Website, tentatively called "Neo-Radar."
Dan-yella and her bitch-ass husband will go to their graves blaming Vibe's demise on "the economy," but, one, that's not entirely true and, two, HISTORY will not be as kind. The bottomline is this: Vibe magazine died on Danielle's watch; Vibe magazine died shortly after she jumped the broom; Vibe magazine died shortly after she started fucking with Elliot. Perhaps she should've been getting her magazine's editorial weight UP, instead of letting Elliot lick that pu-nanny all day. Doesn't Elliot seem like the type who'd prefer giving a girl oral sex instead of fucking?! RIGHT?!!!
