Dont get me wrong i think soulja boy is the worst rapper alive but Nas sayin Hip Hop is dead did hurt Hip Hop in general if u look at sales from the time nas said that a mid-class rapper could do their numbers & the heavyweights went platinum & the super heavyweights went multi platinum when nas said that back in 06 everybody went down a class with the expection of wayne nd maybe T.I ,cause of that statement everyone looked at hip hop diffrently

Ok, everyone on this site knows Soulja Boy is wack and can't rap for shit. So I don't even know why him not selling records is a big surprise. Him selling records in the first place was the surprise to me. However, his statement on Nas is actually true. He was telling the truth in saying Nas killed hip-hop when Nas said that because that's the point when a lot of people started hating on other niggas in the rap game simply because they are doing better financially even though they're obviously less talented lyrically. Before that, everybody was just making they music and moving on. Nas making that statement birthed a whole generation of haters who would rather blame hip-hop's ever-increasing decrease in quality on a rapper/genre of music rather than think logically and blame it on the local bootlegger for burning and selling cd's and keeping all the profit rather than buy it in the stores. Nas would have never made that statement had his sales never declined even if everyone else's sales around him declined. What's on tv, radio, all that shit is dertermined by what's selling and what's making money. So even though Nas is a superior artist lyrically, people like Soulja Boy will outsell him because his music is directed to an audience that actually buys cds rather than burn them.
