Honestly I'm starting to see a decline, the airplay is selective now, people like Scrappy, DFB, Lil Jon, and a bunch of others, are not getting airplay and the new southern artists aren't blowing up like they did a few years ago, but they still have the most saturation of the airways, Plies,Jeezy,Ross(even with this shit) etc they will be ok until people just decide they don't wanna support it anymore like every other region, but I think Soft Rap is starting to make a real rise to the top, and these rap songs with r&b singers on the hook with bridges in their songs is what is poppin' to the public now, so i guess southern hip hop is in between life and death in the general public's eye.

Give it a few years and this southern fad will be all gone. Do you recall the gangsta's and Ho Rap from the early 90's with the West Coast. Yeah Drinking 40's and low riding and just being a straight G was the shit right ? back in the 93-96 era west coast took over that shit soon died out. Same will happen with the south cause there is no back bone to there music. Same shit over and over , Cars,Bitches,Clothes and bragging about the little advance money they got from the slave lable.Everything sounds the same beats ,voices, slang. So it's bound to collapse also with all the fake shit with the rappers in the south , that will exposed them as being jokes.

Five years top and it will be over... once the record lables have to claim bankruptcy due to all the Advance money there dissing out to all these flop stars.
