Pub you're absolutely right the industry and the majors are very particular on how a package is
presented not only that you do have to have a following and a proven track record or they are
not trying to hear you meaning a fan base and stats because they want to know that you can
push units.

You're also right on the 10 to 15 tracks because it's a10 track rule industry standard
it's a saying that I have "Come Prepared To Blow Or Get Blown Out" meaning it has
to be official with the fan base and stats and product you cant be denied because
you got the streets this music game is NO JOKE you have to put all your heart and soul
into it not only that you cant say that your an official Producer and dont know how to mix
down a track or you dont know percentages in regards to a contract or can't play an
instrument you have to study the business side as well as be able to make heat
the Mix DVD's and Mix MP4's are the way to go.

And another realistic note get to your DJ's because they are the ones who are going
to play your music get those spins going as long as the industry and majors are hearing
your name and all they're hearing is he's HOT HOT HOT again you cant be denied
if anybody has anything that they would like to add that I or Pub may not have touched
on please fill us in.

Ricochet Rock Nice you're right on point because of the thousands of artist, the more an artist knows about the REAL music industry like you said pushing units, the further that artist can go. Just like in the movie business when you see Will Smith on every talk show to promote a movie that's coming out, which sells tickets, artist have to be able to hit the radio stations, sign autographs at record stores, do college concert tours, whatever it takes to get them units out there.

And like you also said the DJ's can be one of your biggest promoters, if they like you and they tell their listeners then thats bound to have an impact on unit sales whether it's CD's MP3's, DVD's or MP4''s.

Some luck is envolved in everything, but it's mostly hard work. If an artist really wants to make it in this business, they better be ready to work hard otherwise they won't get off their own block.

I hear ya Asia, but this info is just the tip of the iceberg. If the "idiots" don't do their homework about the industry they're still gonna get left behind. On the other side this info is to open up associations between artist that are ready to handle the 70% business, 20% music, and 10% bullshit. Maybe the ones that haven't done their homework will drop out now that they see how much work it takes to make it in this business.

I'm sorry I didn't say you're an idiot I was only replying to the post. It's just there are a lot of artist out here that have no clue what it takes to make it. They're not idiots, but they also aren't willing to try to learn the industry and the business side.
